Le French: Brunch a la Francaise!

In France, breakfast is primarily comprised of two things, cafe et croissant. There is no large breakfast during the week, and on weekends, you enjoy life. I love a properly done espresso with a freshly made croissant when on vacation in France. Unfortunately, I am NOT writing this particular blog post while sitting in a cafe in the south of France. I wish I was, but I come to you all from my office in Lone Tree, Colorado. Throughout the years, having had many different breakfasts at many different French restaurants, Le French, an adorable, quaint restaurant, you can easily imagine being in the south of France enjoying an apero brunch! They are located in the Denver Tech Center area and are easily accessible by car or the light rail. Just get off at the Belleview Station and they are a short five minute walk.

Run by sisters Aminata and Rougui Dia, Le French is a Senegalese Francaise restaurant that was nominated in the James Beard Foundation Awards back in 2024, and has consistently provided delicious, made from scratch cooking for years. I figured since Le French is also a Les Dames D’Escoffier run restaurant, it was time to pay them a little visit with my husband Eric. Neither sister was available, but it was a Sunday, and I’d expect that they have lives outside the restaurant.

To start, we split a classic French croissant. Buttery, flaky, and large enough for the two of us, it was warm, perfectly baked, and definitely brought us back to our honeymoon in France. Following that, we had a delicious balance of brie, green apple, cashews, and honey for a lovely Brie Baobab. Finally, we each ordered one Savory Crepe dish. For me it was the Saumon Fume. It was a delicious smoked salmon, herb cheese, greyure, tomato, pickled onion, bechamel, and arugala buckwheat crepe, and I added a runny sunny side up egg. Eric ordered the Poulet Pistou crepe, made with tarragon roasted chicken, cherry tomatoes, baby spinach, basil pistou, and greyure. Both were absolutely delicious, the perfect portion, and filled us up. I paired all the dishes with a classic Kir Royale, and would highly recommend visiting sooner rather than later.

Stop by Le French at any time, and you might just run into me enjoying an apero or two…. Au Revoir mon amie’s pour maintenant!
