Sushi dinner at John Holly: Yum!!!
In Lone Tree, you will find that there are many cuisines represented, Mexican, Italian, American, and Indian. At John Holly’s Asian Bistro, they have two options, Chinese and Japanese! For our first time visiting this iconic spot, we went Japanese with many, and I do mean many sushi orders! Thank you ahead of time to owner Grace, her staff, and our master sushi chef for an amazing experience.
A couple of notes for anyone new following my blog. We love sushi. Be it spicy, rich, light, acidic, we’ll definitely try it! We have several dishes that we will always order to compare with all the other spots we’ve frequented over the last decade. Finally, the pacing of everything ordered is something I will always pay attention to, and they did a great job here.
To start, we ordered the sumonomo salad, comprised of cucumber, tako, and ebi shrimp. It was light, delicious, and my only issue is the portion size! I could’ve had three orders and been a happy camper. We also did the spicy kani crab salad that was very well prepared. I loved the amount of lemon juice we were able to squeeze over the salad itself.
Standard sushi rolls ordered were the spicy salmon, spicy scallop, and the spicy yellowtail. All three were fantastic, and came with spicy wasabi and freshly pickled ginger. Our signature rolls were the Tokyo roll with spicy tuna and avocado, topped with perfectly cooked pepper tuna and wasabi mayo, along with the five season roll! All the food was fantastic, and dessert was freshly sliced pineapple with powdered sugar. Cocktails were strong, but delicious!
If you have a hankering for sushi, and want to support a local small business that has been in existence for over thirty years, definitely stop by John Holly’s Asian Bistro in Lone Tree. It’ll be worth it!
