Blue Island Oyster Bar; A new place
I want you to picture this if you will. Four days on the road, driving from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to Lone Tree, Colorado, in a now dusty Subaru Legacy to a seafood restaurant that we had gone to less than two weeks prior. Now picture delicious food, amazing cocktails, and a staff that is super welcoming, and you have a recipe for deliciousness! Our dinner at the amazing Blue Island Oyster Bar in Lone Tree, Colorado was nothing short of amazing! Fresh seafood, the best Oysters Rockefeller you’ll probably ever have, and a Black Manhattan to close out our meal is exactly what you want!
To start off, the staff is absolutely amazing. They answer any and all your questions, make recommendations, and definitely encourage you to experiment with flavors. Huge thanks to everyone at Blue Island for consistently exceeding expectations in this land-locked state! For our now second dinner, we started with the fried calamari; paired with a Thai chile sauce, apples, orange, & sesame. They came out hot and crispy without being over-breaded, and a delicious balance of sweet, spicy, & acidic. Next, the charbroiled oysters Florentine. We love Oysters Rockefeller, have had many over the last decade, and these are perfect! Salty, creamy, perfect ratio of spinach to oyster to sauce. For our entree’s, we both decided on pasta. I got the clam pasta with linguine, sea clams, chile flakes, fresh oregano, and a light crumb to garnish. My only issue is that we didn’t have any bread to sop up the excess sauce, otherwise, delicious! Eric ordered the shrimp scampi with chopped shrimp, castelvetrano olives, roasted tomato, and casarecce pasta. Equally delicious, and both dishes were portioned very well.
Dessert for us was in the liquid variety. I had a Black Manhattan, and Eric had a well know gin cocktail, “The Last Word”. Highly recommend going any time of day for lunch, happy hour, dinner, or just for a nightcap. It is well worth the money spent! Cheers, and stay tuned for more blog posts, and upcoming episodes of “Cooking with Tiffany”!
