John Holly’s Asian Bistro: Chinese dinner in Lone Tree!

Chinese food is one of the most subjective cuisines that we have experienced. Some people like the classic greasy low-cost spots that are scattered all over the east coast, while others prefer California’s healthier options. For us, we like a little mix of both, which is what we have at our local Chinese restaurant, John Holly’s Asian Bistro. If this place sounds familiar, good! I did a sushi post a little while ago, and I think enough time has passed to feature the other side of this longstanding institution.

To start, we ordered their gyoza dumplings! Stuffed to the brim with a combination of pork and veggies, it is something that we always get at any Chinese restaurant. These were hot, stuffed fully, and delicious! Up next was our crispy pork spring rolls with both a spicy mustard and duck sauce option. Then the best tempura-fried vegetable medley that we’ve ever eaten! Crunchy, hot, and beautifully plated, we demolished these bad boys really quick! Finally, our entree’s. Eric did a scallop and shrimp-based option. On the menu, it is cashew shrimp & scallops, which was very lightly breaded shrimp and scallops in a cream sauce. Overall, not a bad choice, but I win on our dinner. I did a shrimp fried rice to pair with my pepper steak and onions. A very classic selection, and I must say that the spice level was very well done!

We skipped dessert, but they do have fortune cookies available. Fantastic job as always with the staff, our server, and it was great briefly seeing Ms. Grace again!
